Since I never really got my portrait photography business off the ground, I have returned to the art of photography. To be honest, it's what I really love doing! When I snap that shutter, it's because I see something that is beautiful in my eye. It's something I could frame and hang proudly in my home. There are many different ways to be creative with my camera, and I rarely limit myself to one thing.
Macro photography is a great way to see something new in everyday items. For instance, these images are from a few random items in my craft room. Pencil shavings, torn cardstock paper and the top edge of a pair of fabric scissors created images that I found appealing. And now that I'm looking at them, they all have some red in them. Hmm. Interesting that I picked these three! Once I had a nice collection of macro images, I remembered how much fun it was to make orbs using a few steps in Photoshop. That was an addiction in itself! I had to finally make myself stop so I could print some of my favorites in a nice hard-cover coffee table book.
Some other forms of art came when I played with photographing some toys and other items I had around the house. Being a huge Lego fan, I knew some of the sets would make wonderful "real life" images. I also introduced some lighting and canned fog to the scene. Those are some of my favorite pictures! I know I will revisit this theme from time to time...
So now when things are slow, I will remember to play! The real reason I started with photography was because I enjoyed capturing a scene, and I often print my most beloved images. If you look around my house, you will see many of them hanging on the wall or in book form lying on a nearby table. I love Shooting My Canon and I don't mind showing you what I see when I look through the lens. I hope you enjoy it, too!
